The Techtuel extension collects no data and talks to no server. It reads the captions YouTube publishes, directly in your browser, and displays them. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

It asks for two permissions, each for one reason:

• activeTab — read the address and content of the active tab, only when you click the extension icon, and only on a YouTube video page.
• storage — remember your preferred export format (TXT, SRT or VTT). That preference stays on your device.

The extension only reaches youtube.com. It reads no other site, sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and does not keep transcripts: they are gone when you close the window.

No account is required. If you open techtuel.com from the extension, the site takes over from there, under the terms described below.

We collect only what the service needs: your account email address, API keys, and metadata about the transcriptions you request (source address, duration, timestamp, credits spent).

This is processed to provide the service, on the basis of performing our contract with you (GDPR art. 6.1.b), and to meet our accounting obligations (art. 6.1.c).

The no-account trial works without identifying you: an anonymous token is stored in your browser to tie your trials together and enforce the free quota. It cannot identify you.

• Media files submitted for transcription: processed, then deleted.
• Transcripts: kept until you delete them, including after a paid subscription ends.
• Account data: for the duration of the contract, then deleted.
• Accounting records: ten years, as required by article L. 123-22 of the French Commercial Code.

Exact deletion windows are set out in the data processing agreement.

Your media files and the transcripts produced from them are processed and stored exclusively in the European Union, with French hosting providers: they never leave the EU. See the infrastructure page for the technical detail.

One exception, unrelated to your content: if you sign in with Google or GitHub, those US-based providers process the sign-in identity data. That transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Creating an account with an email address involves neither of them.

Your content is never used to train a model.

No processor is involved in how the extension works.

The site uses only cookies necessary for it to work: session and preferences. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers. The extension sets none at all.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, port, restrict and object to the processing of your data. To exercise it, write to contact@techtuel.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the competent supervisory authority (cnil.fr).

Since the extension processes no personal data, those rights have no object where it is concerned: uninstalling it erases everything it stored.
